restaurant review #3 - pizza hut (all-u-can-eat lunch buffet)

taste of the food:
pepperoni pizza - 4.5/5
cheese pizza - 5/5
garlic sticks - 4/5
ceasar salad- fuck salad, its all you can eat pizza.
Fruizza™ dessert pizza (apple) - 4.5/5

the value received: I threw up in my mouth a little after we left and it was only $7.99 so you do the math.

the quality of service: it was just us and one other table, considering that the service was acceptable.

ambience: its a pizza hut/kfc/taco bell all under one roof. also I saw a midget leaving the mens room.

additional comments: the girl at the other table drank three chocolate milks out of those terrible cloudy plastic cups, ew.

super bowl XLII

pretty exciting as far as sports go. the new york giants (who I understand were major underdogs)beat the new england patriots and ended their perfect season. also tom petty performed at half time on a giant guitar shaped stage. that excitement aside lets not forget about this memorable super bowl moment;

punxsutawney phil (the seer of seers, prognosticator of all prognosticators)

so because this asshole saw his shadow, apparently we have six more weeks of winter.

luckily our albino canadian counterpart, wiarton willy, failed to see his shadow so it could be an early spring.

Zyzzyx Road

some how we spent a significant amount of time this evenging looking up the highest grossing actors and films of all time. ultimately we ended up on the lowest grossing film of all time and this is the trailer for it:

after its six days in a single theater the movie was down $2,499,980 (the $2.5 million it cost to produce minus the $20 it brought in).

dalek vs. blacklisted

So while I was doing my morning internet rounds today (working in a boring office sitting in front of a computer has slight luxuries I guess) I came across a record that I thought was out of print, but it turns out that you can still order it. The record in question is a collaboration of sorts, the music done by blacklisted and the art is done by famed New York artist Dalek. It looks really cool and you can pick it up here for $32 shipped to Canada. Admittedly this is pretty expensive for a 4 song EP but it turned out really well and this isn't something you see every day. Having said that, I'm still not sure if I'm going to order it.

In other, completely unrelated news, the alternative hip-hop duo Dälek who have been described as:
...dark, noisy and atmospheric, equally inspired by industrial music like Einstürzende Neubauten, the layered noise of My Bloody Valentine and the dense sound collages of Public Enemy. Their sound is often constructed through sampling and a musical base atypical of most hip-hop, making it difficult for people to classify their sound. They have been described as trip-hop, glitch-hop, and metal- shoegaze-hip-hop, as well as criticized for their broad range of sound.
are touring with Russian Circles and Young Widows soon. I find both Dälek and Russian Circles to be awesome, so I think I might drive down to the Buffalo show at the end of February. Anyone want to join me? Should be a good time.

youth youth youth

So, I haven't really been making any posts on this at all lately. I generally spend all day at work on my computer and can't bring myself to look at my computer at home at night. Either way, I'm working from home today so I thought I'd make a post.

I was reading through a local message board and came across this video of the Toronto hardcore band 'youth youth youth' playing at the Beverley Tavern in 1984. I don't know how many people who read this blog will be interested in this, but I thought it was pretty cool. By checking out their archieve myspace page it seems that there are some people out there who are trying to document the hardcore scene as it existed from the late 70's to the mid 80's in Toronto through the various tapes they've uncovered from that period. By the sounds of it they are piecing together the best recordings they can from that period and will make them available for download on that site. There are a few other videos out there on youtube if you want to check some more of it out. If not you should at least to be able to enjoy this video, which I find to be surprisingly good quality-wise.

Anyways, I gotta get back to work but I just might do another post later featuring a cell phone photo if I can think of something good to photograph.
